“Luigi” - GM, Divemaster, Deckhand

Hello Divers,
I obtained my first open water certification in ’97 as a young Marine stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Not realizing how spoiled I was to be able to wake up and roll into the ocean, my diving adventure was placed on hold after my discharge and move back to Phoenix.
In 2015, I had an opportunity to visit Cuba, where I viewedsome divers entering the water, and remembered my days in Okinawa. That day, I went back in the water with a tank on my back. A year later, I decided to visit the Philippines, took a refresher course and off I went to dive with whale sharks and other amazing marine life. Since then, my main diving locationshave been in Mexico, various sites in Cabo, La Paz, and San Carlos. I found that Mexico has incredible diving and marine life all over the Sea of Cortez, and also a wonderful culture full of food, fun, and art. Additionally, I have had the pleasure of diving the Kelp Forrest of Catalina, CA, and recommend it to divers as a must dive trip, as I now plan to do 3 to 4 dives a yearthere.
I am currently working on “Diver Down” as a deckhand and in the Dive Master program under the leadership and guidance of Captain Forrest. Having this opportunity has taught me more than just diving; I really enjoy seeing other divers grow in their own personal journey, along with cultivating a community of divers who respect each other. Thus, giving me inspiration to advance my profession. After every charter I feel more committed to aiding divers in increasing their skills. I get excited each week. The philosophy is simple: “the golden rule” treat people the way you want to be treated. We want our divers to be safe and comfortable in all areas.
Finally, I enjoy all marine life. However, as a huge dog guy, I found myself having a special place in my heart for sea lions. If you ever have a chance to visit a pup colony, I highly recommend doing so. A diver has not lived until you have a sweet curious pup come up and play with you under the water.
Thank you for taking time to read my bio. Hopefully, I will get to hear your wonderful dive stories one day. In case you are wondering what my favorite dive is, well the answer is always the next one!!!
